My sulcata ive had him for a few weeks now, about a month or a little longer.. and he is 3 inches and weighs 2oz, he is so tiny.. and i was wondering how fast they grow?

i know it depends on if they are inside or outside and what they eat etc, he eats majority grass and weeds and flowers, and he stays in the house at night in a 75 gal tank, and during the day when its nice out [[we do live in michigan so weather is ridiculous]] he stays outside and i let him wander around and always keep a close eye on him.

he hasnt gained any weight, or lost any, and he hasnt gotten any bigger or smaller length wise

so im just curious as to when he should start putting on weight and how fast? and how much?

oh and one other thing, i have calcium powder, and should i put that on his food?

Do You Have A Heat, And Uvb Bulb In His Indoor enclosure?
You Need To Mix Some Muzuiri Diet On His Grasses
You can Also Buy Salad Mix From The Store called spring mix
give it to him with murizri and your calcium powder,
and Even Tho he Hasnt Grew an Inch or so He Could Have Gained Weight

You Said "he eats majority grass and weeds and flowers,"

and Never Specified what Other Things He Eats?

What are The Temps and Humidity In His Indoor Cage?

What Bulbs & Wattage

Buy some Muzuri and mix it in his food along the calcium,
and or cuttlebone

It all depends, some torts just grow slow and then all of a sudden they have a growth spurt, while others grow steady and fast. How old is your hatchling? when I got my hatchling he was about 2 1/2 months and weighed 40 grams. It also may have nothing to do with the care you are giving, it could be something that was done with the breeder.

Just watch him make sure he/she is getting enough heat and food and not losing weight. also read thru this thread created by Tom and see if there is something you are not doing. and welcome to the forum..

I think your tort is fine at 2oz or 56.7 grams if you have pics that will help

Actually my vet says that grass puts on the most weight, much more than the mazuri.

When I had a sulcata it grew slow until I released him outside, BAM, he grew fast and got heavy. All the natural sunshine and natural vegitation made him take off!

i have no idea how old he is to be honest, i dont think he is very old, we have only had him for a month, and his bottom shell is still kinda squishy. and i know they grow fas outside, thats why ive been keeping him out there during the day, and he/she gets tons of heat and is very well fed lol he might just be a slow grower, we will see haha

My Sulcata is still soft on his bottom shell also and as they grow it will harden. I don't see any problems, sometimes you think they are small but they are just right. sometime you just need something to compare them to in order to realize it.

I have 2 that are about 11 months old now. One weighs 737g the other one weighs 303g, so they can vary greatly. Hopefully in the next week or two they can go out everyday and we will see how quick they grow just eating weeds and grass.

Well my girls are fed a ton of grass and they are very heavy in weight. He is very well respected in the herp field and not "smokin any grass." I respect his theory, as it has been tested.

I like to offer the youngsters Mazuri in the morning and late afternoon...I also offer cactus late morning-early afternoon! Other than that, all they do is graze, run around and sleep...BTW, it was 91 hear today and they were running around like madmen;)
