I always love seeing your pictures. You have such beautiful Box Turtles. Only 4 of mine came up so far, and they all went down again as the weather went down in the low 30's again last night. I'm so nervous....not good turtle weather here.

That's what happens when box turtles are breeding. He climbs on, hooks his toes inside her shell, does his business, then she closes up and catches his toes in her closed shell and he falls over backwards waiting for her to let go. Sometimes the female will drag the male all around the habitat that way. I've always wondered if his 'toes' is all that's caught up in the closed shell (Ouch!!).
