It was too much work with water changes and testing. Small tanks tend to be harder to cycle than bigger ones. It was fun, but the kids were too young and quickly lost interest, and I just didn't have the time back then. I miss them, they were beautifully planted and equipped with heaters, filters and all... It was a labor of love. Had 3 gorgeous bettas, some fresh water tropical fish, few snails, and bunch of shrimp. It was lots of fun to watch them. They all went to a great family of a marine biologist here in town who I knew would love and appreciate the as much as I and the kids did
