In the past, with fewer russian tortoises, I always fed my leafy greens on a bed of orchard grass hay. I never actively saw any consume any, but like others, the evidence was clear in the end so to speak.
Now I don't deliberately feed grass hay, but there is wild grass growing in the outdoor habitat, and I observe active grazing on the grass as well as the broadleaf weeds and flowers. And for some reason, this year, they've taken a keen interest in consuming California poppy foliage whereas in the past, they only would eat the flowers.
