I have a house plant that is apparently called Schefflera arboricola. The tortoise table tells me that a different member of the schefflera genus is toxic to some degree and shouldn't be fed, but also specifically says that it shouldn't be confused with Schefflera arboricola. So that doesn't really tell me. Is this plant safe or not?

The page I just looked at said both Scheffleras contain calcium oxalate crystals. I'm thinking not safe.

Plus as a house plant it was probably well treated with pesticides if you bought it retail

we didn't buy it, actually. It's a plant that my mom's friend has had for a good ten years that has been growing uncontrollably, and so she gave a few stalks to my mom.
