Earlier today I picked this lovely one out my females RES's lair-

-it's one of the biggest I've seen so far! I sometimes save the really big ones, because I absolutely LOVE how gorgoues the patterns are on the intact scales. o_O
I guess 'shedding' is popular today, though, because every single one of the turtles is losing layers.
Question-
Since these really don't break down and the filter can't process them, what do you guys do? I just strain the out if I see one floating about.
Also, occasionally I give my turtles and hand when shedding, and peel off the scales that are ready to come off. Good idea?

In all seriousness though, I would like to make them into something, just like, a covering for a jar or something. :p
