Well done! There are a lot of box turtles on the move in Virginia right now, both male and female. The females could be looking for nesting sites, but I've caught males out crossing roads too. It has been a bit dry recently. We've had enough isolated thunder showers that the lawn is still green, but I haven't had to cut it in 4 weeks! Maybe they are out looking for deeper watering holes.
