Hi! I've been feeding my russian a wide variety of foods from the local grocery store (escarole, endive, dandelion, mustard, etc..), but I am wondering about a couple of other foods.
Is it okay to feed him carrots? He really likes them and I feel like it's good for him to chew on them and keep his beak trimmed, but I don't want to feed him too much "junk food". I also feed him the flowers from some hostas in our yard. He absolutely loves them!
Any thoughts?

I forgot one more thing: He also eats weeds out of our yard when I let him roam. I haven't noticed any reactions from it or changes physically, so is that alright? Or rather, are there any common weeds that are NOT safe for russians?

You need to know what all the weeds are and if they are safe. In most cases they won't eat things that they shouldn't, but sometimes they will under certain circumstances.

I would not offer carrot very often or in any quantity.

Hostas are fine.

How about hibiscus leaves, grape leaves, or mulberry tree leaves?

Thanks! It looks like all of the weeds he's been eating are safe! And no more carrots!

Also, are there any flowers that are not okay for him?
