Today my tortoise, Squipperdee, had a very soft shell. I took her/him to the hospital where I discovered s/he was dead and this was confirmed by the doctors. I just want to thank everyone on this forum who gave me advice and expressed their concerns. While I only had a few weeks with my beautiful tort, they were splendid and I am so devastated by the loss. Rest in peace my young Squipperdee.

Did you ever find out what was causing the swollen shell? I wonder if it was some sort of congenital defect. Poor little guy. I doubt there was anything you could've done for him. Rest in peace, sweet little Squipperdee.

All they could tell was that Squipperdee had serious calcium deficiency
