Hi all, I live in Vietnam and rescued a tortoise/turtle from the middle of a busy intersection in Ho Chi Minh City. I assume that it was on it's way to be sold as a pet or for food.

I know next to nothing about these creatures but want to look after it. Can anyone tell me what sort it is and what sort of food/habitat it needs? Also is there any likelihood it would be wild and could be released?

Thanks for your help!

Both can be found in your country and with thousand upon thousand going thru your country ( transit or utilized there ) any sp is possible even if not found locally in your country !!

We have to have more information before we can determine 100% what specie it is , before providing its needs as both has slightly different needs and the snail eater eats differently !!

He is a cute little thing. I'm just trying to get someone at the house to take a photo of his underbelly as I'm out at the moment. Will post it as soon as I have it.

Now I can 100% say it's a snail eating turtle , Malayemys subtrijuga
They feast on small snail like their name suggest and most other critters they can catch . But can be train onto pellets after they tame down into captive lives .
