Hi Everyone!

In the attached photo, my Redfoot tortoise has this white semicircle ring around the right eye. I tried to wash and rub it away but doesn't seem to go off. The left eye is fine but I can also see a small white sliver starting to form too. Anyone know what this is?

Thanks!

It's difficult to know exactly what you are referring to. I'm assuming you see the white/clearish 3rd eye lid??

Going forward, it's helpful to post at least 2 of the same photo: 1 kept in it's original form but another with the area in question circled.

Thanks for letting me know, I have circled the area of interest in red for the right eye. Also attached the left eye picture for comparison!

I don't think it's an eye coloration, I took another closeup photo from an angle and can see that the white semi circle looks like a foreign object but doesnt come off. Any chance this could be some kind of worm parasite (doesn't move)?

Well... I wouldn't even rub my own eyelid. That could cause an irritation in itself. Maybe you might use a reptile eye rinse just in case of dust or something in your torts eyes or on the eyelids. I've seen little pieces of dried grass on the eyelids. I use Flukers now and then on my Russian to deal with the dust and use my fingernail to lightly flick off the tiny pieces of dried grass.

I spoke to a Vet friend and broke this down based off the picture:

1. I would suggest more water and soaking. Should help with any residue. Don’t try to clean it out by scrubbing.

2. It could be a vitamin deficiency. There are vitamins you can buy specially for their eyes.

3. Vitamin A deficienciey could also be the cause of white film in your turtle’s eye. Turtles need fat-soluble vitamins like retinol (vitamin A) for healthy skin and clear vision

I hope this could help anyone in this forum that has a similar issue!

Update: Followed Vet recommendation but looks like it's getting worse.

Anyone know what this is on the eye?
