Redfoot tail query

Hi

This is George, had him about 5 months now, his carapace is about 8" long. He keeps getting his willy out.
Today he's just had it out for about half an hour, I took him out of his enclosure to see how he was, he just started walking around with it out. So we put him in a warm bath and now all is back to normal.
Did I do the right thing and what would happen in the wild if he got it stuck like it seemed to be.
Is this a normal thing to happen.

Yeah, a penis prolapse. That usually doesn't happen in a health tortoise. Keeping it moist is the right thing to do. Ask @mike taylor to share with you his picture of his sully humping a mud puddle, lol
