Questions about closed chambers

I am closing my tortoise table sometime this week and I have a couple questions. Not about construction per say, but about functionality.

How many times a day should I mist the enclosure down?

How well does heat stay in?

How does one control temperature (lowering it if it gets too hot)

Sorry for my long post, I really just want the best for my little Leopard. Thanks!

Many of your questions rely on much information not apparent in your crazy long post.

Background temperature of the room the enclosure is in will be a big factor. Misting will be dictated by the amount of humidity in the enclosure. The RH or relative humidity should be measured and that measurement will inform you how much 'misting is required. Some folks keep the substrate moist leading to higher RH. Some people run a small humidifier.

So, in short once it is set up you will have to monitor what does happen and adjust according to those observations. It's not 'plug and play' , it's cause and effect. You will have to monitor the enclosure and learn what your 'only one in the world' enclosure will do based on how you set it up.

So get a few thermometers, and a few humidity gauges and see what happens. Adjust humidity and temp based on those observations.

If it is too hot, just open and close the door/lid a few times, fanning out the air. If your covered tort table is airtight, the heated air stays in very well. I have a 20 gallon aquarium with a light stand over it. I have draped aluminum foil over the light stand, then a cut open plastic garbage bag over that. It stays VERY warm inside the aquarium, and it's NOT airtight. If your enclosure is consistently getting too hot, perhaps your light is too strong? You may need a lower wattage.

It does really depend on you having to play with things. If to hot, raise bulb or lower wattage. As for humidity, pour warm water onto the substrate and most your tort a couple times a day. If the humidity doesn't go up enough, mist more or put a couple containers of warm water in the enclosure and under a heat source.
