I got a tortoise 2 weeks ago and I try to Handfeed him and he will just sniff and walk away

The tortoise may still be adjusting to you and it's new home. Just keep trying every now and then.

To be honest, it's probably better not to handfeed regularly. Handfed torts can come to see the human that feeds them as food and start ignoring the same food left on a slate in their enclosure... They aren't particularly clever!

We have had a steady stream of torts on here that will only eat from the hand !

I don't personally hand feed, i've never even tried. But my tortoise is super friendly, he even walks up to me when i open the door to his cage. I think if you want a tort that will come to you or be friendly, give your little guy/gal some time to settle in, and then start handling a little bit each day, then increasing the time more and more. I handle Echo daily, and he's only 2.25 inches, but he lets me rub his head and neck because he's used to it now. Just have to work and be patient to get your tort to warm up to you. :)
