So, if we were making a list of options, we would have...
Short-term solutions...
- Cuddle to share body heat
- Typical hand-warmer packs
- Heated bricks or blocks
- Jars of hot water
- Heated cooler or insulated box
Mid-term solutions...
- Long-lasting heat packs
- Camping stove to heat water, bricks, etc.
Long-term solutions...
- Transport to warmer place
Of course I'm stocking up on some heat packs, but the cuddling worked fine for a few hours.
Transport to a warmer place??? As much as I would love to own a Sulcata, I'm not leaving NY for a warmer climate... or giving up my tort. LOL
Now...when it's too late...my son told me he has a little generator that can accommodate a few electric plugs. He brought it over to show me and I loved it. It would be perfect to plug in four things. All I would need it for, would be for Pio for a short while if this ever happened again. I'm living here over thirty years, and I never saw a storm like this before, so I really wasn't prepared.
Hmm, around how low can tortoises tolerate. I can't imagine tortoise or fishes dying from a night or two of coldness. It must have to be really cold right?
