So after bringing my new baby ploughshare home, i found out that it is 251 g. - 9.6cm, following the rule of 1 inch = 80g, it is 50 grams underweight!!! Is this a big problem?

Thanks

I didn't know there is such a rule, and this rule can't be correct.

Rads and angonokas have high domed shells, which means with every inch of growth, their mass should increase exponentially(figure of speech, at least by a factor large enough).

As long as your tortoise is eating, active, and shows no sign of illness, I wouldn't worry about it.

I've never heard of that rule either. When you lift him how does he "feel". Does it feel like your are picking up a similar sized stone? You have other tortoises to compare it to. They should feel heavy for their size.

I have no experience with that species, but I would think a daily soak for a while would not hurt anything.

Where are the pics of the new baby?
