RE: Please help!! Rf

Is this a hatchling? Looks like yolk sac still healing. Not sure, but hopefully someone else will pipe in soon.

Doesn't look like shell rot to me...

Please help!! Rf

To my knowledge they are not hatchlings. I have had them since July. The pics are of both my little guys.

Im not sure what it is but shell rot is white fungus. So I don't think it's shell rot. Though redfoots ate prone to getting shell rot. But I don't think that's what your issue is

To me it just looks like dirt build up in an indentation of the shell. Have you tried cleaning it? Just use warm water and a toothbrush.

Antifungal cream works if you think it is a fungas. Have you researched further on your own to see pictures of shell rot or fungas? Cleaning it with a soft toothbrush and cotton swabs for one would help. Did you try to inquire from the seller what this could be?

Don't mean to sound harsh, but there may be real times to seek out a vet. I don't think is one of those times. But you do what is best for your tort.[/code]

No all who responded helped and very grateful for the responses! I have sent the seller an email regarding it as well.

Sellers got back to me and stated its normal. Just little dirty. Ugh being a worried dad about my little ones.

Does your tort have a way to get out of wet soil into/onto an area where he can let his shell dry out---this is a normal and needed option in order to maintain a healthy shell....:D
