It's my neighbors and my baby sulcata keeps trying to get at it. Is it safe?

It does kinda resemble that, especially the purple flowers. Is honeysuckle safe?

I can't remember off hand. Seems some parts are poisonous. Maybe the seeds? But I forget. I'll get back to you later with better resource information.

I think it's the honeysuckle berries that are unsafe. Could this be trumpet vine?

I don't think it's trumpet. Google shows a flat inside of the flower and these have two little things sticking out. Sorry for the lack of technical terms. I know nothing about gardening. I'm in Southern California if it helps and this thing grows like crazy up onto my second story deck. Here are some better pics of the flowers.

The orange flower looks like a cape honeysuckle. The flowers are okay to feed in moderation as a treat. The berries are not.

You've got two different plants there, one with lavender flowers and the other with orange/red flowers. I think the orange one is a type of honeysuckle, but I don't recognise the other...could it be Centrosema virginianum?

Could the purple one be a clematis?
When you have some possible names check www.thetortoisetable.org.uk to see if correct and safe although you may not find some US plants.

I agree the orange one is "cape honeysuckle" - Tecomeria capensis. It is safe.
The other one I am not sure about but it may be a Vigna or a Clitoria ( not kidding ) - probably best avoided.

We have a winner! I did a Google image search for "corkscrew vine" and it certainly does look like that to me:

"The species is named caracalla, a corruption of the Portuguese caracol, meaning snail. This perennia vine (when grown in a climate without frost) has fragrant flowers said to be reminiscent of hyacinths – with a distinctive curled shape, giving rise to the common names corkscrew vine, snail vine, snail creeper, or snail bean."

A further search lets us know that some parts of the plant may be poisonous, some parts edible.

Thanks everyone. Corkscrew vine is certainly less exciting, but it is good to know what it is.
