I'll go one step further and say that you should do the daily soaks (inside the enclosure so the soak stays warm) for 3-4 hours every day for the foreseeable future... after the first week or so, you could cut the carrot to water ratio way back, but keep up the long warm soaks.

I took in a rescue in rough shape, feather-light and closed eyes and not active or eating, and I am convinced that it was the simple action of long soaks in warm water (initially cut with carrot babyfood) that saved him life and got him back to being a healthy and active tortoise.

Hi thankyou very much for your help, I'm on day 4 of the carrot baths now and day 2 one eye seemed to open slightly but day 4 and his eyes are still closed I have changed the substrate and doing 30min warm bath in the morning and 40min carrot bath in the evening. Will attach photos now anything else I can do please?? He still won't eat

Is that the new substrate in your last pics? It still looks too sandy and dry. Go for the ones recommended in the caresheet.

The problem with this substrate it that it gets everywhere inc base of dishes and your drains. Most importantly they trample it into the food dish and consume it, over time they will get a sand pit in their stomach and become ill.

Really recommend another change to Orchid bark you can m8st with water and maintains damp allowing humidy and a good shell growth.
