Pictures included* What is this on the shell?

I was giving my tortoises a bath when I noticed 2 of them have this weird look on their shells. Any ideas?

Where's the wierd look? Are you talking about those squirls on areola?

Do a 'search' for white squiggly lines. We've talked about this phenomenon quite a bit here on the Forum. Years ago I was told it was the calcium working its way through the shell, but that might be an old wives tale. We don't know why it occurrs, but it seems to be in otherwise healthy young tortoises and is nothing to worry about.
