I intended just to provide a hide for my leopards as they already had a “Tom-Style” night box because it was black it got too hot so I made the ugly hide below. I had a kane mat and simply put it under and every night I went to tuck them in and they were all in the half pipe. See pick. The temps on the new prototype with the Stanfield mat below are pretty steady set at 85 degrees near the top
It is both a little colder and a little warmer below depending on mat contact. I am putting some rads out there. And every night they tuck themselves in. I anchored corners with some rebar to keep the torts pushing it around but I can still pick it up if needed. Will get some sensor push data for you on the coldest nights and check early am tort temps. It is raised so it stays dry but during wet season I might add some more rain protection.
