Hello, I've a 2 and a half year old male hermann I just wondered if I could let him have a mate to keep him company? Any advise would be appreciated please :)

Welcome to the Forum, Lis!

It's really not a good idea to have more than one Mediterranean type tortoise in an indoor habitat. You can get by with it outside if the space is quite large and the tortoises can keep out of each other's site/territory. But indoors you are courting trouble.

It seems logical that a new tortoise would keep it company, but its just the opposite. These types of tortoises do not live in pairs or groups in the wild. They're solitary by nature and they prefer it that way.
