You do understand, of course, that a single Hermann's is like a single 'tater chip...hard to stop at just one...

Besides, the longer you have a Hermann's, the more you realize that the world needs more of 'em, and you soon find yourself starting shopping for him a harem... :p

VERY hard to find this time of year...should be easy to find about late spring. The folks I got Ptolemy, Ophelia ans Apollonia from, Underground Reptiles, had excellent prices and very healthy animals, so you might want to check them out when you get ready.

Hoping to get a couple more females this coming season...Ptolemy can likely deal w/ up to ten females before he'll need Viagra! :p

I have noticed that, and I don't want hatchlings and thats all I have been seeing for sale. Guess I will just save some $$$$ and start looking again next year..

My thinking, exactly...the ones I bought were between 4" and 5", so in a few years they should be old/large enough to lay eggs. I don't hibernate my torts, so during the winter months they're still eating and growing.

I think I will pass on the hibernation thing as well, no need to put myself or my torts thru it especially since it's not needed..

This is a Dalmation "T. h. hercegovinensis" the males get 5-6" and females 5-7" so they don't get very big but there are some that will get a little bigger than normal...

A few photo's of him going into his outside hide, I'm in the process of building him a small insulated house because its to hard to get him out of the brick when he spreads his legs and digs those nails into the concreate walls :p:p.
