Yesterday was abit of a rescue mission for me. I recieved a call from a friend last week asking if i was interested in her tortoise. The price was steep and i refused as i tried helping her a couple of years ago but she decided the pet shop knew best. i visited, and was shocked by what i saw, she was short of £50 to get her cat neutered so money changed hands and i came home with a 2003 UK CB male THB!!!! To say he is a bit of a state is an understatement. He has never seen daylight, been viv kept , not hibernated, UV way up so doing no good, diet hmmmmm well you will see and never seen a bath before, which he has now as he was covered in poop yuk!!!
His name is Trudy !!!! changed that to Frisbee and he is going to live the peaceful life here with me. He is in a temp enclosure outside as i type awaiting a new one to be built tomorrow!!!
Here he is very flat and very round :(

I just knew you'd come home with a tortoise. :p I'm glad you did though. :D You'll have him in the best shape possible, in no time. Great pictures of Frisbee. :D

Hi Stells: Isn't it amazing what a tortoise can live on? I've seen other tortoises that have been kept as your new little Frizbee...flat, a bit soft, etc. and they continue to live. Thank goodness you had the money to be able to rescue him. The one close-up shot of his face just tells the whole story. What a look!

Poor little guy!! I am so glad you found him.. I am amazed sometimes at the conditions of some of the torts. I am working on one of my son's friends mom to give me her DT he is living in a 10 gal tank with no lights, poor food choices, his mouth is deformed now and he is flat, soft, horribly pyramided, he has pyramids on his plastron. I gave her a sheet for caring for him and I ask her every week to allow me to take him, no luck so far though :( I know you will have him healthy soon!!
