Hello my name is Jenifer and I acquired a Greek tortoise from a friend of a friend of a friend who brought him here from morocco. I sent him to a reptile hospital for a month to rehab and deworm him an he just came back last week. I am a cat mom and a mother of 9 year old twin boys so the reptile thing is completely new to me.

He is in a tank the basking area is 94*F middle is 75*F and cool side is 69-72*F. He is on a fir bark substrate with a double dome day and red night heat light and a uvb light beside that. He eats dandelion greens, romaine lettuce, spring mix, and tortoise pellets. I'm always open for recommendations.

Welcome to the forum; we’re glad you’re here! We’re also happy to give feedback that will ensure a long and healthy life for your tortoise. It’s a bit of a read but take a look at the Greek care sheet:https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/greek-tortoise-testudo-graeca-care-sheet-overview.87146/.

You need to remove the red bulb; tortoises are attracted to red and it will disturb their sleep patterns. Use a ceramic heat emitter (CHE) for night heat. I encourage you to review some of the pinned threads in the enclosures forum: https://tortoiseforum.org/forums/tortoise-enclosures.7/.

Hi Jenifer, and welcome to the Forum!

I'm not a big fan of the double dome fixtures. I like to have my night heat at one end and the day heat sort of in the middle. We have a very good care sheet for Greek tortoises pinned at the top of our Greek section.
