Hello everyone!
I am actively seeking a tortoise right now and was excited to find this forum! I'm sure I'll have lots of questions once I get my new pet but in the meantime would love suggestions on:

What breed to get?
I'm looking for one that grows to be 12''-16" as an adult- and would love one with colorful markings (I'm thinking about a red-footed tortoise right now).

Where to get one?
I'm happy to adopt or purchase one, but so far I can only find Russian tortoises available in pet shops here in the city.

Redfoots are a great choice, have a look at our section here for lots of great information, it's under the Species specific section and the under South American tortoises.
