I was wondering if you could have multiple species of tortoises in one enclosure as long as it was big enough say about the size of a back yard. And I would assume you could only have 1 male. I'm not interested in this just yet but an idea for a few years from now when I'm ready to expand my tortoise family

You can do anything you want if you have the resources, but if you have to ask then maybe you shouldn't. Plenty of experienced keepers do it, but they also know what's involved.

It's a very bad idea to mix species and could be very deadly or sickly for those tortoises. Specially ones that would never, ever cross paths in the wild.

Species should not be mixed. We don't want cross-breeding and we don't want tortoises exposed to disease organisms that other foreign species have evolved to deal with.

Jodie said it best. Have as many species as you want, but have them in separate enclosures and use care in your daily routine to not cross-contaminate.
