Well it has been a busy spring construction zone in the rad yard, we have the majority of the major construction done. You can follow the whole build on our Facebook.
Over the years I played with temp tests of various heat components. I ended up with just using the stanfields and no over head heat. It did not add any benefit just more heating costs. There are industrial lamps now that we tested and still not worth using but remain if we ever have extreme cold. As it stands the building is 40f over outside on the low side. So the animals are much warmer against the heat mats.
Analog failsafe that will kill all power over 80 and digitals that run the heat sources with probes.
Switch to turn power on or off for the season, makes it easy.
Animals have settled in since and know the routine. Even in winter they still come out eat/drink and go back in to the heat. Only lock them up when we have cold and rain for extended days.
Nesting females and male watching! In summer I open one flap in each door for cooler air exchange. It’s not needed but helps, building is very well insulated either way.
Automatic water bowls installed next to each door.
