Sorry if I ask too many questions, just I want to make sure everything I am
seeing is so called "normal" give or take quirky tort personality stuff.
Sheldon ate like a little pig for several days. Lately he still eats but more leisurely.
Mind you at the reptile store he was in an aquarium with like 30 other hatchlings &
he was scoping for food while others were piled onto each other. I put on his lights and he walks around a bit. The first morning I noticed he wasnt running to eat, he pooped, so I figured thats what he was thinking about. Since he still poops after he wakes up in the morning so eating is just delayed and leisurely. And he shows preference to the side of his tank where his water bowl is. He drinks several times a day, walks thru and sits in the water. He poops next to the water dish also.
So, he clearly loves the humidity and soaking.
Also, this morning he scared the wits out of me, I found him sleeping in the same spot he was last night but he was splayed out. It was a bit startling to see his head lying there limp, his little neck looks so vunerable. I rubbed his shell and talked to him softly, he opened his eyes, moved his head.
Part of me thinks that he might just be fine and secure with his enviorment.
Also, that he's figured out that there is not competition for food like he might have expierenced at the reptile store.
I have found the perfect area for him later next year to spend his days in the yard.
it is an area about 5 feet x 5 feet area with good sun and trees for shade. This way I have time to get supplies, I decided to use concrete blocks for versatility, concrete pavers for flooring under the substrate and hardware cloth for the lid. I will take pics along the way. He's
gonna love his area. I know he will grow, but next year it will seem big for him. I will have to get better with plants, I dont have a green thumb.
