i just got my package today, and my redfoot seems to like it but its still too large for her to bit into. is there a way i could soften this or make it easier. i was wondering if i could soak it in water, or just cut them in halfs?

I soak mine for the Aldabran tortoises in warm water. Some folks soak it in natural fruit juice (if your tortoise is a species that can have fruit).

I get a few pellets, put in them in a small dish of water, they swell up in a few minutes, then pull them out, and mash them up on a nice eating plate with other tasty food items for the torts. once they get HUGE, they can swallow the pieces whole.

I noticed the same thing with my last few bags - smaller size, and a little more triangular than rectangular... The packing date on mine is May 26, 2010.... How does your date compare to that?

I feed mine Mazuri 5-6 days a week, sometimes the whole week. Or sometimes I buy a bag of salad mix from the market and feed it to them till they finish the bag than go back to the Mazuri but most of the time it's Mazuri and they love it to death. I soak the pellets in water for about a minute than put it in their dish.
