Hi out of interest when using a heat temp gun the floor under the basking is registering 44c/111f is this to hot or not as it's not air temperature

It’s too hot. If it’s 44C at floor level then it’s much hotter at the top of your tort’s carapace; the point nearest the lamp. You risk burns.

Raise the lamp a little so it’s 35-37C

I've raised the light now so will keep an eye on temp. Just worried and want to get it right. The overhanging dome is about 15" above home and cool end is around 20-21c

Hi this is my enclosure however I dont have the wood across the end on the right I just have a hide in there now

the temperature under heat light with digital thermometer not touching surface is 32c however as soon as you gun on the substrate it says 40c
