Lighting question for a red footed tortoise

Can I use a Zoo Med PowerSun UV Mercury Vapor Lamp 100 Watts ,and is that enough watts

Red footed tortoise don't like the bright light these lamps put out . So I say no . You will be better off buying a che and a thermostat. And using a 5.0 uvb tube fixture.

Yeah I agree, while the redfoot torts here do bask in the bright light, they then will retreat eventually to a more hidy type place in the enclosure...
