Hey guys my name is Alexia. I am going into the navy so I have a question. If my husband has to fly he will have to take the pets as a carry on. But would it be ok to keep a leopard gecko and leopard tortoise in the same carrier? I'm thinking no but I just want to double check.

No. They will need separate containers, or at least separate boxes within one larger box.

I know of no airline that will let you travel with reptiles as a carry on. You will likely have to overnight ship them to your destination.

Tom is right [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]
I would use Ship Your Reptiles to get them there.

Really, no reptiles?

I can kind of understand no snakes, but a tortoise?! And if the gecko is secure, geesh, why not.

They probably don't understand various reptiles or have time to learn about the safety of each species. I'm sure they consider it a safety issue. I wish you could carry the innocents on board.

Ya my tortoise is only 10 months old and the gecko is very little too. :/ I feel nervous if I did that

Well it looks like you are driving then. :)

Seriously though, Who can figure out the majority of all these rules anymore. Most of them just make no sense.

The rules I spoke of are for commercial airlines. Can you catch a military flight, and are their rules different? I know a private pilot that does some "work" for the military sometimes and it seems like all laws and rules are right out the window so to speak.

My recruiter said I could take them as a carry on but idk if that's true. So I'll have to ask my friend who works for an airline. If I get stationed somewhere like Hawaii were going to have to fly unfortunately :/

you can take a 'hop' (cargo plane ride for free)..i dont know if they fly state to state or not though. my sister flew from here in AZ to another AF base in South Korea to see her husband for free, and from the UK (where they are now) to here earlier this year. you can take whatever you please with you.
