Great picture, but I question if UVB rays can go thru. They are stopped by wire mesh and I am not experienced enough to know if that ceiling tile would do the same. What do you think?

I'm not a scientist or UV mesh expert, but in my opinion, the "holes" are big enough for the UV rays to pass through.

1/2 inch squares let alot of lite in.screen acts like a filter and less lite gets to the tortoise.if this was outside the screen would be ok under the direct sun,but we are talking artificial lite lamps.we need to get the most out of them.

What is it made out of? Looks like it might be plastic, if so wouldn't it melt?

I built a screen out of PVC (sprinkler) pipe and fittings, metal hardware cloth, and zip ties. I didn't have to glue the PVC together, the hardware cloth held it together. The hardest part was working with the hardware cloth, be careful! The cloth comes with different sized openings. It is strong enough to support our cat, who likes to observe the torts from above. The screen is propped up against the wall.
Thanks,
John and Joanie

i dont like pvc.it is very toxic if heated and when it burns.when you cut it it gives off toxic gases and is not safe.you should check out the msd on pvc.wood is alot safer.

I'm sorry, fel1958, for the OT in your post, but this is the only time pebblelu has posted and I wanted to...

I use a PVC cutter. It works like large scissors, and cuts straight and is easy to use. This is water sprinkler pipe.
