Hello! I have a Hermanns who is a few months off being 2 years old. I’m in the UK and overnight it’s been about 7 degrees - I have a tortoise viburnum/tank.
I’ve been leaving his lights on for 12-14 hours and temps during the day seem to be fine (32-34 hot end, 30 middle and 28 cold end) - it’s night I’m worried about because it’s far too cold and o saw you can’t leave the lights on all night.
I’ve been doing some research and found a few ceramic heaters which seem to be exactly what he needs at night to keep him warm. I’m worried that I’ll start to hibernate/brumate as he’s been sleeping an awful lot! Would a ceramic heater be the best thing for him overnight? If so does anyone have any recommendations?
he’s my first tortoise and I’ve only had him for a couple of months so any help or advice is appreciated! Especially with how to keep him warm at night (I’ve seen very mixed things about heat pads so I have avoided them) ty x
