Thought I'd show what Irwin is now calling home for his indoor habitat. My brother-in-law made it for me. It's sweet! It's 51/2 X 3/12. Irwin has totally "moved on up - the the deeeluxxxx apartment in the sky".....

That looks like a really nice setup , I hope Irwin wont outgrow it too fast ! 
I wanna say 3/8 - but not sure. it's thicker than what you would use to replace a window.
Oh he will..... He's already 3 lbs and 8 inches. I'm working on his outside habitat and will again get him a bigger inside habitat when winter hits....That looks like a really nice setup , I hope Irwin wont outgrow it too fast !

I know , Speedys outside area is 10 ft. by 15 ft and he covers every inch of it !
Thanks Tom - and you were right about the build-up on Irwin's shell - it's the tap water he soaks in. I don't have a water softener. i just wipe it off when I decide he's too dirty! He loves to soak in his water dish....
I plan on using have of my backyard for Irwin. My brother is coming out from Colorado to help me. I will post pictures when done. I have a dog house that we are converting to a tort-house. I also plan on planting his favorite grubI know , Speedys outside area is 10 ft. by 15 ft and he covers every inch of it !
