(if youre getting a hatchling) keep them humid, they sleep more than older torts do so dont freak out, they cant regulate their body temps as well as older ones can so you really gotta watch it. so long as you do that, follow a healthy diet, soak daily in warm water..youre golden. oh and i almost forgot the most important rule of all-forum-time..PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES. haha. good luck and congrats!

Oh one other thing, the enclosure is not all the way done, I still need to add some plants (fake) and some more furnishings.

Add REAL plants your tort can eat instead. Adding fake plants would be dangerous because they would try to eat them and injest plastic.

Cute little guy. Question if you don't mind. I noticed you are using the hoods from Wal-Mart (hardware store) and not the ones sold in the pet stores. I just found out about those today and was going to ask if anybody knew how well they worked? What is your opinion?

Love the lil Leo! I like the light color and no spots on his back!

Ah! I personally think the ones at the pet stores are just slapped with a new name, painted black and marked up 200% but aren't any better than the ones at the hardware store.
