Hi I came back off my holiday last weekend and picked up my baby Herman she did a runny poop in the box while coming home i think that she had been fed mixed lettuce every day and it upset her i weighed her and have stoped feeding her lettuce and have been giving her garden weeds every day instead, her poops have inproved but alot but are still a bit sticky. i looked up how to treat this on net and just found info saying not to fed them greens till it retirns to normal, but that all she eats what can i fed her that will help her return to normal, I fed her Dandilion L an F, Bindweed L an F, Clover, Nipplewort, Hawksbeard, Creeping Charlie, Rose petal, watercress, Honeysuckle flower when in flower, I have Budlia but have (only tried this once and she did not like it),Parsley Coriander, Thyme, mint. She also gets mixed Lettuce with Frisbee, Rachicchio, Lambs, Endive which i stopped this week because of the poop. I normally fed weeds one day then the Lettuce the next.

I weighed her today and it loooks like she as lost 8g but i know weight depends on if blabber and Bowel is full and how much they have eaten, so i and going to weigh her every day till i am sure she is ok. I checked the Jackson ratio and it looks like she is slightly over weight at 80g and 7cm so she could do with losing abit, She as got really good at sitting in her empty food plate and staring at me till i get her more food i will have to get tuff with her as i know to much good food is as bad as a little bad.

I am trying to increase the list of weeds and have bought some seeds to grow which will help me identify new ones that are safe.

any help with idea,s of safe food to give her when her tummy is upset is wellcome. Ok Essay over lol

Just my opinion: The loose(er) stools are probably stress related from being moved around. They will return to normal in time. I would soak a little more than usual to keep her well hydrated and not worry too much about it.

Ok thanks i did put her back in her small Viv for Hols so that proberly correct. I have been soaking her more as i know she would be loosing more fluid, she as not been going in the water so and not spotted any today so not sure if the lack of poop in water is good or bad ever she is emptying in the Table top and i am no spoting it or she as gone the other way.

Try some spring mix, escarole and chicory.

I forgot to ask you, do you give your little one some calcium with D3?

I would cut out the herbs but otherwise looks great! Yeah, sometimes torts poops will change with changes in their diet. Don't worry about it. The average captive tort fed just lettuces will have that nasty runny poop all the time, so you are doing awesome. Since she is still growing, I would not worry a bit about her being "overweight" on a chart. Just make sure she gets exercise. Can she be let out into the garden to graze? From what you wrote it seems more like she lives indoors and you bring the food to her. Why do you think her tummy is upset? Because of the loose stool? That is very typical for car rides and stress because the poop moves through faster. Usually a tort will stop eating or be less active when their tummy hurts or other ailment. Don't worry!

I tend to not pick the herbs they are in pots in her out door incloser were she can eat them if she wants them. Are they Bad for her i thought they were ok to fed them. She does get to go out but i live in England and it come up Autumn so its getting too cold now fo her. She is a vey active little girl and spends most of the day walking aound he area trying to find a place to climb out lol. I was in mum mode with the tummy thing thanks for the info on the car ride and stress, she as returned to nomal now and is really good at letting me know she wants more food she will stare me out while sitting in her plate if i ignore her she trots of to her plant pots of dandilions and trys to climb them to get some herself lol
