I've had this tortoise for 11 years. I admit I've neglect it for most of that time. After a lot of research and spending, I finally was able to build a new enclosure for him. I'm not sure the size is large enough, but unfortunately it's the best I can do. I live in an apartment with my dad (hopefully I'll move out next year) and there just isn't enough space for a larger enclosure. I live in Canada, so winters are long and I want my tortoise to have an easier winter than previous years.
The enclosure is about 110 cm (3'6") long and 45 cm (1'5") wide. As substrates, I mixed Cypress Mulch and Coconut Fiber (Eco Earth). I have a 75 watt infrared heat lamp. This is a drastic improvement from the shameful environments I let my tortoise suffer through. He seems to be happier and he enjoys to walk around his enclosure. I also let him walk around my room so he can explore through my closet and get lost in shoes and stuff He's always been energetic, no matter the circumstances he was living in.
So, any improvement (I know there are many) to consider on his new enclosure?
Thank you, you guys helped made my tortoise happy
