How long does humidity need to be up?

My Sulcata, Dexter, is going to be one year old this summer. I've been keeping his humidity level up between 80% to 90% all the time. How old does he need to be before I can let the humidity level drop and not worry about it? Or, does it always need to be high?

I've always thought it was the first year of a tortoise's life that was critical. Now I'm leaning towards weaning the tortoise off high humidity and not just quitting cold turkey. A sulcata is usually big enough to start going outside at about a year of age. So you can provide a humid hide and water the outdoor pen down good and put the tortoise out in a safe yard during the day, then bring him back into the humid indoor habitat to spend the night.
