These are not the best pictures, so I apologize right off the bat. Saturday is my cleaning day and my tortoise houses really need it, however, here I sit on the computer...

The first picture is of my smallest large tortoises. The one on the left is about 20 years old, a female, and has either slowed way down, or has stopped growing. The one on the right is a rescue from Cincinnati, and is evidently still quite young because she's still growing. Leopard tortoises. Left = 18"

The next up in size are the Manouria emys phayrei. The tape is next to the 65lb female, wild caught, age unknown. If the tape were moved up to the front of the carapace, she would measure 22"

In this picture, the male is in the front (about 6 o'clock), with the 65lb'er going clockwise and another female on the right. The female on the right is one year older than the male, who is 15 years.

It looks like I should have measured Darth, the male. He looks longer than Medea, the one I measured. However, he doesn't weigh as much.

Dudley is next. He's 20 years old, 100lbs or so, and if the tape were moved up to the front, it would show 27"

Sulcata22.jpg

And last, but certainly not least, weighing in at 120lbs or so and showing appx. 29" on the tape, So, male Aldabran, 10 years old:

Yes...thank goodness most of them are able to get their food by grazing.

Yvonne thanks for sharing. I am not all that familiar with Manouria emys phayrei, so I appreciate looking at your pics.
