How are parasites transmitted?

Hi:

How are parasites, etc. transmitted from one tortoise to another? If an enclosure outside has been used for wild caught tortoises is the ground contaminated and therefore cannot be used for captive bred tortoises?

Yes parasites are passed on by ingesting food of feces with the eggs on it on in it. They can be passed on from tortoise to tortoise, from snail to tortoise, from bird to tortoise, from mammal to tortoise. So if your tortoise is outside, whether CB or WC, they will eventually pick up a parasite or 2. It's a good idea to worm tortoises, that get plenty of outdoor time, twice a year.
