Does the lighting in my house affect how my tortoise lives/sleeps in his house? Does he need to stay in a pitch black room until his cycle is set to start?

IE. I'm awake longer hours. If I turn on a light, is that bad?

I have a tub of babies in my kitchen. Their light is on a timer and goes off at 7p. So it's dark in the room until about 10p when I come back onto the computer. At that time, I turn the kitchen light on so I don't trip on a cat or dog as I walk through the room to my computer. I leave the light on until I go to bed about 11-11:30. None of the babies come out of their hiding places to see why the 'sun' has come up. So, to answer your question, I don't think turning a room light on will bother your tortoise.

I have my baby in the living room. She goes to bed around 7-8pm by going into her flower pot and kicking dirt out to "close the door" lol. I was concerned as well that our continued activity in the room would wake her, but so far she seems to be a pretty sound sleeper!
