sorry for the short introduction but it was very late for a long ting,

Any way Toby's is a horsefield
Male tortoise around one year new
He is a obsever and a great eater
We purchase him from a very small pet shop in kent about one hour 30 Minutes drive from me..

MY name is lotit I' m a lover of pets I own a 15 year old African grey parrot name pretty paul but we are not here to talk about me its all about Toby

Hello and welcome. Glad you found us. Toby's diet needs some changes. Fruit is not so good for him. The veggies (pumpkin and carrot) are okay, but only in small quantities, once in a while. The majority of his diet should be broadleaf weeds. If you can't find the right weeds in winter, then leafy greens from the grocery store will have to do. You can add some blended grass hay, or some fresh grass for fiber. Are cactus pads available over there? Those are good too.

The fruit will negatively affect the bacteria in your Russian's stomach, friend. It hurts his digestive system. The bedding sounds alright, perhaps next time you change out his bedding you could add a little bit of dirt to the sand? Sand is fine short term but in my experience it is uncomfortable for the tort when it gets inside of his shell. Just a thought. Welcome to the forums though
