Hi!
I just got a hermann yesterday! It's my first tortoise, but I have wanted one since my very first memory! :) any advice is very much welcome :)
And before you worry... The cats can't actually reach Sheldon- they just look :) and there is water in there, right at the front of his house :)

Hi and welcome. A humid hide would help his shell, and make him more comfy. Watch other animals, like cats and dogs, cause he would be a chewy morsel for them.

Welcome to the Forum. Sheldon is a cutie. Follow the caresheet mentioned above and he will grow up to be a healthy tort.

Hello and welcome.

I'm going to guess you are in the UK and the pet store sold you that "Pets at Home" substrate with the sand and limestone bits in it, right? That substrate is not safe.

Read through these for up to date care info:

This one was typed up for russians, but care is essentially the same.

Hi and welcome! There's a lot to learn but this is the best place to learn it with lots of up to date information from keepers all over the world. Forget what the pet store may have told you they are there to make profit with little knowledge of aftercare and although you may get constructive criticism here it is all done with the best interests of your tort at heart. There isn't room for error with babies who can quickly become ill if their temps, substrate, diet etc isn't right. Sheldon is lovely and if you can follow the caresheets and all advice offered by members he should be a happy healthy tort for the rest of your life!!
