Help! I am living in Tuscany and have just been given a Hermann's Tortoise I have no idea how to age the Tortoise and care for it needs some advice!

I would recommend contacting "Tom The Dog Trainer". Don't let the name fool you he knows his stuff when it comes to tortoises, I'm just not sure if Hermanns are his forte'. Welcome to the forum.

Please take a look through our archives. We have a lot of information here about the care of Hermann's tortoises. Knowing the sex of your Hermann's isn't important in knowing how to care for him, but if you post a picture of his underside, paying particular attention to the tail area, we can tell you if its male or female.

Make sure you read a lot about your Herman's. They're great pets if they're given the right care!
I'm a beginner too, but I read as much as I can and try to avoid at least the major mistakes.
