Help with pyramiding

We recently picked up a sulcata named Mr Q. Unfortunately when we received him he had already started some pyramiding. We are new to the tortoise world and we want to do our best with our hatchling. Any suggestions on how to fight the pyramiding?

Yes. Be sure to read the "Important Threads" at the top of the sulcata section. There's nothing you can do to smooth out the existing bumps, but after you've read those articles I've referred you to, you'll see what can be done to stop it from continuing.

Read Tom's threads in my signature! They worked for me. Here are pics of my Darwin when I got him and how he looks now.

Wow Thomas, that doesn't even look like the same tortoise. Fantastic new growth. :D good job.

Well QT, you've got a great example right there with Darwin.

Hi jordo,

Yes, your little Russian's growth is bumpy. What substrate do you use? Is it a damp soil type substrate he can bury into? Does he get time outside? The information you seek is different than what QT needs.
Start a thread in the Russian section of the forum (or perhaps a mod will split this) so that you can get advise applicable to your species.
