Hello All,
I am trying to set up my first enclosure. I am trying to order light bulb and heat emitter but I don't know what wattage to buy. The side of the enclosure is 16" and I don't want either the bulb or the emitter down in the enclosure. Any idea what wattage MVB and Heat emitter I will need?
the tortoises are baby greeks, baby hermann's.

Thanks
Tracy

The package usually tells you not to have the light closer than 12" from the floor of the habitat. It would be hard for us to tell you the wattage. Why don't you put a regular incandescent bulb in there and test 100 watts, 150 watts, etc. to see what you need to get the heat temp you want. I only have used 100 watt MVB's and I've been totally happy with them and the amount of heat they provide. The bin I have them over is a very large Christmas tree storage bin. On one of the bins, I was a little concerned it wasn't hot enough all over the bin, so I mounted another light, just a regular 100 watt incandescent over the other end.
