I found a nifty rock... Bowl thing specifically for torts that I'm getting next week

That's a much better! The only thing I'd be concerned about is the water dish. That bowl can be dangerous. Venus might climb into it and flip. You don't need a bowl especially for torts. Walmart has a large selection of plastic and terracotta pot plates (flat plates), for under $5.00.
