Help for a diy basking platform

This is the new habitat for our 2 res and yellow belly slider..its a 45 gallon rubbermaid tub...need help in deciding what would make for a better basking platform then what they have now...its a piece of slate resting on 2 bricks....Came home today and saw the slate moved...Im afraid of any of them getting pinned and injured or worst...thinking of making a beach area or a platform out of pvc pipes...the tub is 3ftx 20in...I will be picking up a fluval cannister filter tomorrow...

This is one i modified from the Zoo Med floating turtle dock. I used galvanized rods that come to a right angle on the bottom to hold the dock. Then i used L brackets and washers with nuts on the top to hang over the tank then you get all the space for basking and space below.

That looks great...but Im using a plastic tub...that would not work for their home...but thank you...
